| On September 11,2001 the life of Peter Siracuse was tragically taken from us. The Peter A. Siracuse Foundation was started by the family and friends of Peter as a way to carry on his name and pay tribute to his life. Before trading bonds for Cantor Fitzgerald, Peter was a high school history teacher and coached lacrosse at New Hyde Park High School. Peter had a great love for sports, and children. Peter was the youngest of six children. He left behind his wife and high school sweetheart, Alana, and his 8-month-old son Ryan. Peter’s goal was to be a success on Wall Street and to one day retire and go back to coaching children. Sports were his passion. He took the competitiveness that he learned and taught on the field to his Bond Broker desk. In just three short years on Wall Street, Peter used his competitive edge to become a rising star as a Bond Broker. The Peter A. Siracuse Foundation was originally started by Peter’s siblings and close friends as a way to carry on Peter’s name. The purpose of this foundation is to support families affected by tragedy or loss, promote positive youth development and education and the advancement of children’s causes in general. Originally two scholarships were set up in his name. One for a four-year student athlete from Bethpage High School, Peter’s Alma Mater, and one grant for an athlete from New Hyde Park High School where Peter was a dedicated teacher and coach. Due to the success of our golf outings and other fund raising events the foundation was able to provide financial assistance to families struck by tragedy and loss and to take on a larger project of helping fund several educational programs at the Friendship Central School District, located in Allegany County, a community set in northern Appalachia. It has been very rewarding to the members of the board, close friends and family to see people come together to help others in Pete’s name. Reaching out to families in need and providing assistance to children to further their education is a tremendous help in the healing of those of us who have suffered this tragic loss of a wonderful man. With your continued support the foundation grows larger and stronger. The aim of the Board of Directors is to fund more scholastic programs, reach out to more families in need, and to positively affect the lives of children as Peter did when he was here with us. Thank you for all of your support of The Peter A. Siracuse Foundation. |
